Night Shift Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

The Maintenance employee must work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. The maintenance employee job requires maintaining rolling stock, sprinkler systems, shavings bin, general maintenance throughout mill, diagnosing and repairing sawmill and other equipment. There may be occasional weekend and night duty. At times exposed to the elements. Requires cleaning up oil spills from equipment in shop, parts removal after installing new parts and keeping shop clean.

The position requires a self‑motivated individual willing to work safely in a team‑based system. They need to schedule their work, prioritize their workload, and complete tasks in a timely manner. Good troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis skills are required to make proper repairs. Preventive and predictive skills are required to keep equipment running safely and efficiently. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must.

A desire for continuous improvement of technical skills and quality workmanship is required to meet customer demands.

• Work safely and follow all related policies and programs to assure a safe working environment.
• Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work requirements.
• Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, and conveyors according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
• Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
• Operate machinery and parts during the installation, set‑up and repair of machinery.
• Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
• Other job tasks and projects as assigned.

• AC/DC wiring methods
• AC/DC drives/motors
• PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, B&R, Beckhoff)
• Touchscreens
• Mechanical systems (bearing, alignment, chains, belts)
• Pneumatics and hydraulics
• Design and fabricating
• Preventive & predictive maintenance on production machinery
• Mill and Lathe experience is a plus
