Process Technician – 3rd Shift

The Process Technician on 3rd Shift is responsible for the operations of all assigned injection and blow molding machines, typically between ten and fifteen machines. This role requires a strong hands‑on and technical orientation to the injection or blow molding processes, meeting or exceeding productivity and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that injection and blow molding machines, molds, fixtures, and auxiliary equipment are set‑up properly to meet safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Effectively communicate with managers and coworkers on issues concerning quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Coordinate with molding labor leadership to ensure full machine and labor utilization.
  • Recommend changes to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Report machine and equipment malfunctions to support personnel.
  • Provide training and guidance to the material handler assigned to presses.
  • Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials for this position.
  • Learn in‑house programs for BOM, shop order detail, etc.
  • Perform minor maintenance and setup functions to assist in job setup.
  • Pass a LOTO test and follow all standard safety procedures involving LOTO.
  • Support and practice all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Specialized courses, seminars, or background in trades such as pneumatics, hydraulics, plastic processing, etc., preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of standard practices such as basic process control (start‑up, shutdown, etc.) and mechanical principles (pressure, heat, vacuum, heat transfer, gas assist, etc.).
  • Knowledge of various power tool equipment (grinders, conveyors, chillers, scales, dryers, etc.) and hand‑tool equipment (clippers, utility knives, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to enter data into established databases and spreadsheets; ability to learn to use Windows‑based programs or computer‑controlled equipment with training.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, or crawl repeatedly.
  • Vision for close, distance, and depth perception.
Physical Demands

This is a physically active manufacturing position requiring regular standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crawling. Employees may need to lift or move up to 50 pounds. Additional hours may be required during production peaks.

Work Environment

Work is conducted in a manufacturing facility with seasonal temperature and humidity variations. Typical noise levels are characteristic of a manufacturing environment.

Pay Range: $23.00 - $35.00 hourly
