Hourly Production Lead

The Hourly Production Lead works with production team leadership to ensure excellence in achieving safety, quality and production goals. This individual is responsible for participating in classroom, on the job training & other developmental activities to learn the technical aspects of the manufacturing process, gain a comprehensive knowledge of each department, while developing leadership and teambuilding skills. This individual will lead production teams during a supervisor's absence and work on special projects & initiatives as assigned.

This individual will train on various shifts and teams in a 24/7 operating environment and therefore must be willing to work any shift, including weekends and/or holidays, to be considered for this opportunity. The wage for this position is $27.62 per hour.

Key Functions:
Role model all standards/processes and on-the-job behavior by living our core principles of integrity, fairness, & creating a positive, inclusive work environment. Responsible for supporting production leadership to provide management and oversight of hourly production employees in a unionized veneer / plywood manufacturing facility. Provide coverage for production shift supervisors during vacations and other absences. Ensure the safe and efficient execution of work by teams.

Ensure job and safety rules are understood and followed by all employees. Role model safe work practices. Participate in incident investigations and follow-up activities. Actively be involved in assigning work and evaluating job performance. Support, coach, and provide timely feedback and direction to associates. Participate in and/or lead unit initiatives and other assignments as required. Understand the process flow and provide solutions to issues.

Own and/or contribute to other mill functions, such as safety, environmental, or LEAN initiatives.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution Strong leadership skills. Excellent people skills. Good planning, organizational skills, and problem-solving capabilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong team building capabilities. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite and other windows-based programs. Good judgment and decision-making skills. Must be willing to work a 12-hour rotating shift which will include weekends and holidays.

Ability to work in extreme temperatures and be ambulatory for the majority of an assigned 12-hour shift. Ability to learn and comprehend entire manufacturing process. The following qualifications are preferred:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university, particularly in Forestry, Business Administration, Finance, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Two years previous key leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, or minimum of three years stable work history. Experience in routine manufacturing concepts such as housekeeping, ergonomics and labor efficiency. Experience in wood products manufacturing. Experience with LEAN processes.
