Position Summary

To coordinate, implement, and plan nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements
  • Formal Education / Training
    • Earned a nursing diploma or degree.
    • Licensed in the State of Tennessee.
    • BLS within 90 days of hire.
    • For 3rd floor telemetry unit:
      Basic arrhythmia and ACLS within 6 months of hire.
    • For float pool and float pool extended:
      Basic arrhythmia, ACLS, and Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.
    • For critical care:
      Basic arrhythmia, ACLS, NVCI, and AACN, CCRN or CCP within two years of hire.
    • For oncology: ONS chemo/immunotherapy certification within one year of hire.
    • For adult emergency room:
      At least one year of emergency experience preferred; TNCC preferred; ACLS and PALS within 6 months; NVCI within 6 months.
    • For pediatric medical surgical:
      At least one year of pediatric in‑hospital experience preferred; PALS within 6 months; NVCI within 6 months.
    • For pediatric emergency room:
      At least one year of pediatric emergency experience preferred; PALS within 6 months; ACLS and NVCI within 6 months; ENPC or TNCC within 6 months.

    • Pediatric Patient Care Delivery

    • Oncology Patient Care Delivery
    • Adult Emergency Patient Care Delivery

  • Equipment and Skills Training
    • Standard patient care equipment for all services.
    • Ability to work well under pressure, function independently, and apply nursing knowledge flexibly.
    • Equipment:
      Network Computer System;
      Omnicell Medication System;
      Telemetry;
      Pneumatic Tube System; AT&T Language Line.
  • Physical Environment & Effort
    • Units ranging from neonatal to >99 years of age across adult, pediatric, critical care, oncology, and emergency settings.
    • Communicate in English verbally and legibly.
    • Prolonged standing up to twelve hours per day.
    • Assist lift up to 250 lbs.
Key Results / Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive assessment on all patients within appropriate admission time, utilizing observation, communication, and examination skills.
  • Develop individual care plans, including nursing diagnoses, standards of care, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Plan patient teaching, discharge, and post‑discharge needs.
  • Function independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment as per policies and competency assessment.
  • Handle, transport, store, prepare, and administer medications and solutions safely.
  • Document accurately and timely.
  • Reassess patient condition, evaluate response, and modify plan of care promptly.
  • Accept charge responsibilities and assign staff based on patient condition, acuity, and complexity.
  • Maintain a healing and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  • Maintain professional appearance, cleanliness, and safety in work areas.
