The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents across all ages in long-term care, under supervision of a registered nurse (RN), advanced practice provider, or physician. Responsibilities include assessing residents, administering medications or treatments as ordered, documenting care, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, and supporting patients, families, and advocates in prevention and treatment plans. The LPN also monitors resident status, performs testing as needed, and assists in emergent situations.
Responsibilities- Assess residents and implement individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as directed.
- Document resident interactions, medication administration, behaviors, activities, and dietary intake.
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals.
- Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary care team members.
- Counsel residents, families, and advocates on prevention and treatment plans.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program and hold an active LPN license.
- Associate degree in practical nursing preferred.
- Completion of a pre-licensure nursing program with supervised clinical experience across the lifespan OR at least 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility.
- Current, unencumbered LPN license with state nursing board and/or multi-state licensure privileges.
- If IV therapy is required: graduation from a board‑approved AASPN program that includes IV therapy in the curriculum or completion of a North Dakota Board‑approved IV Therapy course.
- Obtains and maintains required competencies, certifications, annual continuing education units (CEU), and competency training of the department and facility.
