The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents. The RN collaborates with residents and families, other inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement and evaluate care. The RN demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in the assigned clinical setting.
The RN provides care for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment. The RN is responsible for coordinating care, resident assessment, resident education and various nursing interventions, may serve as charge nurse and delegate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel as appropriate, and supports delegates to ensure safe and reliable resident care and resolution of care concerns.
All duties are performed within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act, state administrative rules, and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements released by the American Nurses Association.
Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program is preferred (including, but not limited to, CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA) and hold a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing if possible. The RN must hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs, or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact state. The RN must obtain and maintain required department specific competencies and certifications.
