Experience:
Individualized orientation period of no less than 2 weeks and generally no greater than 3 months. - Job Knowledge: Ability to practice nursing as defined: “The diagnosis and treatment of human responses to actual or potential health alterations.” Requires utilization of the nursing process in care provision, including administration of medications, diagnostic tests, formulating care plans, collaborating with providers, and educating patients and significant others.
- Safety Sensitive: YES. Positions categorized as “safety sensitive” where impaired performance could result in harm. Use of medical marijuana, even with a valid card, excludes employment in such a position.
Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, identification of nursing problems, implementation, and evaluation. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Serves as a resource nurse when oriented and so directed. Supports the organization’s mission, vision and values. Applies knowledge of patient age and cultural diversity, along with spiritual and emotional needs to the provision of patient care.
Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
Maintains good physical and emotional well‑being. Responsibilities require significant physical work, including lifting and moving patients, pushing carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment, and lifting or pushing up to 50 pounds. The individual must bend over for certain duties (e.g., check chest tube drainage, check urinary output). The individual must maneuver throughout halls, stairways, and patient rooms during emergencies. Requires visual and auditory skills, significant writing and computer entry.
Trips to various departments required. The position has heavy exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents. Exposure to infectious waste and body fluids may mandate wearing gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles.
