COMPENSATION RANGE: $16.98 - $20.82 / Hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
Specialist, GSLE Program – Outdoor is responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of high-quality outdoor and experiential programming aligned with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE). This role focuses on providing safe, engaging, and progressive outdoor opportunities for girls, with a strong emphasis on environmental education, outdoor skills, and animal-based learning experiences.
This position plays a key role in coordinating partnerships, particularly those related to animals, wildlife, agriculture, and outdoor education—to expand program offerings and enhance girl engagement. The Specialist works collaboratively across departments, with volunteers, and with community partners to deliver impactful, mission-driven programming.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Works closely with the Senior Director of Girl Experience (SDGX) to develop and implement programming team goals, strategies, and accountability measures that support the council’s strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with program staff to deliver high-quality programs aligned with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE), including:
- Lead the planning and execution of council Signature Events and Encampments (Outdoor Related) with the guidance of the SDGX and STEAM Manager.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver outdoor programs, events, and activities aligned with GSLE outcomes and badge requirements.
- Support the execution of council-wide outdoor events, encampments, day camps, and select summer camp programming.
- Facilitate hands‑on outdoor experiences that build confidence, leadership, environmental stewardship, and life skills.
- Assist in implementing progressive outdoor program pathways for girls across all grade levels.
- Assist with all marketing, programmatic, and policy/ procedure research and documentation.
- Monitoring and responding to emails in the program inbox.
- Assisting with council fund development programs and initiatives
. - Securing required documentation and ensuring programs and partners adhere to GSUSA Safety Activity Checkpoints, Volunteer Essentials, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE), and the council’s strategic vision.
- Cultivates and manages program partnerships to expand opportunities, including:
- Identify, cultivate, and manage partnerships with organizations related to animals (e.g., farms, equestrian centers, wildlife organizations, veterinarians, zoos, nature centers). Coordinating event scheduling, registration, communication, and evaluation.
- Serve as the primary liaison for animal and outdoor partners, ensuring alignment with safety, program quality, and GSLE standards.
- Manage scheduling, communication, contracts (as applicable), and evaluation of partner-led programs.
- Ensuring all partners comply with council policies, safety standards, and program guidelines.
- Works collaboratively with all council departments to ensure programs and initiatives are effectively promoted to girl and adult membership, including assisting with the development of council program guides and related materials

- Builds and maintains strong relationships with volunteers across the council to better understand membership needs, strengthen support for council initiatives, and develop program offerings that reflect regional and geographic realities.
- Develops collaborative relationships across departments to support council-wide, regional, and functional initiatives, particularly those focused on membership growth and retention
. - Maintains proficiency in council business systems and works with the department team to track data, maintain records, and support the development of documentation and program processes.
