Job Purpose and SummaryAs a Pharmacy Technician you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while delivering caring service that exceeds patient expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Follow company SOPs at each workstation to assist pharmacists in managing and improving patient health.
- Execute pharmacy workflow procedures (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide empathetic patient experiences at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone, including offering immunizations and other services at the register.
- Perform inventory activities such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stock, and waiting‑bin inventories.
- Collaborate in a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to other stores as required by the business.
- Adhere to all federal, state, local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies for patient safety, controlled substance dispensing, record‑keeping, privacy, and security.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, off‑site clinics) where allowed by law and supported by training.
- When authorized, support immunizations by obtaining Technician Immunizer status, educating patients, monitoring reactions, and reporting adverse events.
- Must comply with state board of pharmacy requirements (age, education, licensure/certification).
- At least 16 years of age if no age requirement is mandated.
- High school diploma or equivalency, or active enrollment in high school if no educational requirement is mandated.
- State‑level licensure and national certification as required by state regulations.
- Successfully complete company training program within the designated timeframe.
- Maintain all registration, licensing and certification requirements per State Board of Pharmacy guidelines.
- Complete required training and meet competency before performing duties.
- 1‑3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to work in home store and travel to other market locations as needed.
- Mobile; remain upright for extended periods.
- Occasional lift up to 20 lbs and frequent lift up to 10 lbs; ability to lift light objects repeatedly.
- Reach, extend arms, reach overhead, and work with fingers and arms.
- Use of computer terminal, reading, visual inspection of small parts; close visual acuity required.
- Stoop to a considerable degree, requiring use of lower extremities and back muscles to move items between low and high positions.
- Control precision to adjust machines quickly.
- Effective verbal and written communication; active listening; ability to exchange ideas.
The typical pay range for this role is $16.00 – $24.00 per hour. The actual base salary will depend on factors such as experience, education, geography, and other relevant considerations.
