The HVAC SERVICE TECHNICIAN will specialize in commercial HVAC/R systems. This position is a industrial maintenance/service role that is a guaranteed 40 hour a week position. The position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This role includes working on a variety of systems such as roof top units, mini-splits, air cooled chillers and VRF systems.
The technician ensures that systems function efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- INSTALL, service, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems, including rooftop units, mini-splits, air cooled chillers and VRF systems, etc.
- DIAGNOSE mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration system issues using a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment.
- PERFORM routine preventative maintenance to extend system life and reduce downtime.
- REPLACE or repair components including compressors, motors, fans, thermostats, valves, sensors, and controls.
- WORK with refrigerants safely and in compliance with EPA regulations.
- INTERPRET blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation for system layouts and controls.
- MAINTAIN detailed service records, work orders, and inventory of materials used with detailed notes, photos and videos.
- COMMUNICATE clearly with customers, and internal team members regarding repair status and service recommendations.
- ENSURE all work meets company quality standards and safety codes.
- RESPOND to emergency service calls, including evenings or weekends as part of the on‑call rotation.
- MAINTAIN cleanliness and organization of work vehicles, tools, and job sites.
- PERFORMS OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of and in-depth understanding of commercial HVAC/R systems, components, and functions.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and mechanical systems related to HVAC/R
- Familiarity with EPA regulations and safe refrigerant handling procedures (EPA 608).
- Knowledge of building codes, OSHA safety standards, and HVAC industry best practices.
- Understanding of digital control systems (DDC/BAS) and programmable thermostats.
- Proficient in diagnosing, servicing, and repairing commercial HVAC/R equipment.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Effective in use of HVAC tools, gauges, multimeters, recovery equipment, evacuation equipment and leak detectors.
- Strong Communication skills to interact with clients, contractors, and team members.
- Computer and mobile app proficiency for service documentation, diagnostics, and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently across multiple job sites.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and provide clear solutions under pressure.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces, rooftops, and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to maintain accurate service records and communicate findings professionally.
- Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and participate in ongoing training.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certified Technician
- Universal EPA 608 Certification (or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire)
- 5 years of commercial HVAC/R experience
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
- NATE certification
- Other HVAC/R related training
- Texas Class A Environmental HVAC/R License
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have and maintain a good driving record
- Must pass preemployment drug screening

Works outside in all types of weather and may be exposed to extreme heat and cold, rain, snow, sun etc.
This is a safety sensitive position due to driving requirements or job responsibilities whole include safety-sensitive tasks that require performing duties fraught with risk of injury to others where even a momentary lapse of attention may have grave and disastrous consequences.
