Job DescriptionGeneral Maintenance position supporting district facilities. All duties are semiskilled and involve assistance to skilled maintenance workers and maintenance of equipment.
Terms of Employment- 250 day (12 month) contract; 8 hours per day.
- Salary based on district salary schedule for the position.
- 12 days sick leave per year of employment.
- 10 days paid vacation per year of employment.
- 3 days personal leave.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Arkansas driver’s license and ability to drive a service truck or van.
- Must pass Arkansas State Police, FBI, and Department of Human Services background checks at own expense ($48.25).
- Good knowledge of tools, techniques, and terminology associated with the general maintenance trades: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC.
- Familiarity with safety precautions of mechanical trades.
- Ability to perform basic helper skills related to the nature and scope of duties.
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to get along well with others to promote a positive working environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of semiskilled duties in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, and traffic control.
- Assist skilled maintenance workers (electrician, carpenter, plumber, HVAC technician) with their work assignments.
- Maintain, service, and conduct minor repairs on buildings and equipment.
- Work with other semiskilled maintenance workers on assigned tasks.
- Maintain assigned equipment and tools to ensure safe availability; promote best safety practices.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars as assigned.
- Inform others regarding procedures or status of work orders when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Administrative Services or other assigned staff.
Physical demands include regular use of hands, frequent walking, climbing, lifting (up to 10 pounds routinely, up to 50 pounds frequently, occasional >100 pounds). Ladder work may be required. Work in confined areas of heights may be necessary. Vision, hearing, and communication abilities required.
Other RequirementsReading complex blueprints, sketches, schematics; basic computer skills for ordering parts, accessing work orders, researching information; ability to prepare reports and forms.
