About the Role:
The Field Mechanic with MYR Group will travel to project sites across the designated service area in Kentucky. The role involves performing maintenance, preventive maintenance, and minor equipment repairs on a fleet of heavy trucks and other equipment.
Travel may include overnight stays, responses to emergencies outside regular hours, and overtime including weekends and holidays. A company vehicle, fuel card, and lodging will be provided.
Essential Functions- Perform mechanic assignments using independent judgment and application of procedures to specific work situations.
- Provide a full range of servicing and repairs on various types of fleet equipment, ensuring compliance with manufacturer guidelines and company schedules.
- Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance and maintain a clean and professional service vehicle.
- Provide oversight for less experienced mechanics when required.
- Conduct routine and preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
- Identify mechanical problems visually or with computer diagnostics.
- Maintain records of time and materials used, equipment condition, and repairs performed.
- Track information in computer software; ensure repair orders and weekly timesheets are complete and accurate.
- Conduct safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation.
- Work in accordance with DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA, and other required regulations.
- Participate in training programs, maintain safety skills, and keep current with hazardous material training.
- Perform other duties as assigned and maintain regular attendance.
Qualifications:
- Three to five years of experience in general mobile heavy truck repair, automotive repair, or equipment repair; or completion of a vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in vehicle and equipment repair with four years of experience.
- Capable of operating company vehicles and equipment on a daily basis; must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Reliable with a strong work ethic.
- Proven ability to work independently and without direct supervision.
- Good teamwork skills to work effectively with coworkers.
- Ability to communicate effectively, read orders and work instructions, and make accurate entries in the daily log.
- Basic computer or data entry skills.
- Solid experience using mechanical tools, materials, and testing equipment.
- Solid knowledge of design, adjustment, operation, maintenance, and repair of vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to follow posted safety rules and safe operating procedures.
- Good understanding of applicable regulatory guidelines and rules.
