As a Field Service Mechanic B, you are an expert technician who supports product knowledge and quality standards within the branch. You will serve as a valued resource, utilizing mechanical expertise to keep the Herc fleet in proper operating condition on customer jobsites. Field Service Mechanics are dispatched to local jobsites at various times of the day and work independently without direct supervision, providing an opportunity to build positive relationships with customers while supporting community growth.

• Maintain a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance for all Herc‑owned fleet at long‑term customer job sites.
• Conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and assorted services.
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to ensure proper operating condition on the job site.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and propane systems.
• Recondition and replace parts to return equipment to a safely functioning state.
• Educate customers on proper equipment use to prevent future breakdowns.
• Analyze problem areas for significant wear or tear and address them before the next visit.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines posted at the active job site and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Produce timely, detailed service reports and repair logs.
• Follow all company procedures and protocols.
• Build positive relationships with customers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels.
• Ownership of sufficient hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
• Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, hydraulics, pumps, and assorted tools.
• Ability to be on call to support operational needs.
• A valid driver's license.

• Drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
• Follow up with customers in a timely manner.
• Handle assorted tools properly and safely.
• Lift up to 50 lbs safely.
• Attention to detail.
• Customer service skills for interacting with jobsite foremen.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing needs on an active job site.
• Effective interpersonal communication.
• Solid written and verbal communication and basic computer operation skills.
• Proven computer skill set for entering work orders.
• Understand time‑management importance.
• Communicate effectively at all company levels.

$26.00 – $30.00 per hour. Salary offered is at the company's discretion and may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, and fit for the role.
