Apprentice Millwright

West Fraser is seeking an Apprentice Millwright to support safe, reliable operation of our modern wood products mill. In this role, you'll assist with installing, repairing, and maintaining sawmill, conveying, and production equipment while learning from experienced tradespeople. Responsibilities include mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, basic welding and fabrication, and strictly following safety procedures. You'll join a collaborative, safety-first team with structured training, mentorship, and clear paths to journeyperson status and long-term career growth in sustainable manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing mill machinery and production equipment
• Support mechanical troubleshooting to minimize downtime and improve reliability
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and basic adjustments on equipment
• Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and use of PPEAssist with basic welding, fabrication, and machining tasks as required
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and work orders
• Collaborate with senior millwrights, electricians, and operators during repairs
• Document maintenance activities and report equipment issues promptly
• Participate in training and apprenticeship requirements toward journeyperson status
• Contribute to a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area
