Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Installation Technician
West Fraser is seeking an Industrial Mechanical Technician (Millwright) to join our Engineering & Maintenance team in our manufacturing facility. In this role, you will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair state-of-the-art milling and wood-processing equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Responsibilities include mechanical installations, alignments, preventive maintenance, and root cause analysis of equipment failures. You will work on hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and rotating equipment, while strictly adhering to safety and environmental standards.
As part of a dynamic team, you'll support continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate closely with production and engineering to optimize mill performance. Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical maintenance, repair, and installation on milling and wood-processing equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs and document work performed
- Install, align, and commission new machinery and upgrades in collaboration with Engineering & Maintenance
- Interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals to plan and execute repairs
- Follow strict safety, lockout/tagout, and environmental standards in all tasks
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for reliability, safety, and efficiency at the mill
