Sawmill Mechanic

West Fraser is seeking a skilled Sawmill Mechanic to keep our lumber manufacturing equipment running safely and efficiently. In this role, you will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain saws, conveyors, motors, hydraulics, and other mill systems to minimize downtime and support high-quality production. Working in a safety-first, team-oriented environment, you'll perform preventive maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and assist with equipment upgrades and installations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair sawmill machinery and equipment to minimize downtime
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on saws, conveyors, motors, hydraulics, and related systems
• Assist with installation, alignment, and commissioning of new or rebuilt equipment
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using tools, schematics, and technical documentation
• Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and safe work practices in a heavy industrial environment
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to prioritize repairs and improve equipment reliability
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, parts usage, and service logs
• Support continuous improvement, reliability, and modernization initiatives within the mill
