Mechanical Technician

West Fraser is seeking a Mechanical Technician (Millwright) to join our Engineering & Maintenance team in our manufacturing mill. You will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize state-of-the-art wood products equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, installation and alignment of machinery, welding and fabrication, and supporting continuous improvement. Working in a safety-focused, environmentally responsible culture, you'll collaborate with a skilled team to minimize downtime and improve reliability across the mill.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems on mill equipment
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to maximize uptime and reliability
• Install, align and commission new mechanical equipment and upgrades
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics and equipment manuals
• Perform welding, fabrication and precision fitting as required
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement of equipment performance
• Maintain accurate maintenance records in CMMS and follow safety procedures
• Collaborate with Engineering & Maintenance teams to plan and execute shutdown work
