Licensed Social Worker (10-Month Position)

The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts (ASMSA), a campus of the University of Arkansas System, invites applications from highly qualified candidates for a ten-month, full-time Licensed Social Worker opening beginning March 5, 2026.
The social worker will play a critical role in addressing the social and emotional needs of gifted and talented students within a specialized educational community. The social worker will be responsible for a range of clinical responsibilities under the supervision of the Licensed Professional Counselor, coordinating services and projects related to the social and emotional wellbeing of ASMSA students.

The primary focus of the work is treatment in individual therapy modality, providing counseling/talk therapy to students in need using professional counseling standards. Related case management duties include working with students, their families, off-campus care providers, and on-campus support services.

This position also provides the opportunity to contribute to outreach, education, and wellness initiatives that support the broader campus community.

Your Role as a Social Worker at ASMSA

* Provide individual counseling/talk therapy to students experiencing social or emotional challenges.

* Assess student mental and behavioral health and develop appropriate treatment plans.

* Coordinate services with families, community providers, and campus support teams.

* Assist with case management, referrals, and care coordination as needed.

* Participate in crisis response and student support interventions when appropriate.

* Collaborate with the Student Development team to promote student wellness and resilience.

* Contribute to campus outreach, education, and wellness initiatives that support student wellbeing.

* Maintain appropriate documentation and uphold professional and ethical standards of confidentiality.

Qualifications

* Master's degree from an accredited institution in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or Educational Psychology.

* Three years of counseling or therapy experience is preferred.

* Current Arkansas license (or eligibility within six months of hire) in one of the following helping professions:
oLicensed Professional Counselor / Mental Health Service Provider
oLicensed Clinical Social Worker
oLicensed Master Social Worker

* Experience in student support programs, with preference for candidates familiar with gifted and talented high school populations.

* Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
