Senior Autonomy Development Engineer

As a Senior Autonomy Development Engineer you will develop advanced semi‑autonomous and autonomous solutions for heavy equipment, collaborating with a cross‑functional team to prototype and deliver production quality software that integrates positioning, planning, perception, and control systems. You will design, document, code, test, and validate production software, and contribute to architecture, functional safety, and engineering best practices. Your work will solve real‑world problems and help bring safer, smarter machines to market.
WhatYou Will Do
- Develop production‑quality C++ software including design, documentation, coding, product quality, and validation.
- Contribute to requirements generation and architecture design for advanced autonomous solutions.
- Support functional safety software design and validation processes.
- Collaborate and mentor team members to execute on goals.
- Problem Solving:
- Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives.
- Analyzes risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtains decisions on resolution.
- Uses fact‑finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.
- Software Development Life Cycle:
- Identifies common issues, problems, and considerations for each phase of the life cycle.
- Interprets product development plans and functional documentation.
- Programming:
- Excellence in C++.
- Interprets application system designs and program specifications.
- Strong engineering practices, debugging/profiling skills.
- Applies structured programming techniques to structured environments.
- Technical Troubleshooting:
- Discovers, analyzes, and resolves software or application problems.
- Analyzes code, logs, and current systems for advanced troubleshooting.
- Records and reports specific technical problems, resolution processes, and tools used.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven experience as an engineer supporting Robotics, Autonomy, or Automation technical projects.
- Knowledge of robotic frameworks such as ROS.
- Knowledge of positioning, planning, and/or perception.
- Knowledge of telematics‑based messaging and machine protocols.
- Ability to survey literature for ideas and translate research papers into product implementation.
- Experience in Mining or Construction preferred.
- Experience with tracked loaders, motor graders, wheel loaders, excavators, mining shovels or tracked loaders preferred.
- Full‑time position at Mossville, IL or Dallas, TX office.
- Domestic relocation assistance available.
