ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Operate the bus in such a manner that proper care is given to the bus and passengers at all times.
- Start the route on time so that you will operate the bus at a safe speed and arrive at school on time.
- Do not change the route without proper authorization from the supervisor.
- Drivers are to perform a pre-trip inspection and student check before and after each route.
- Maintain student discipline on the bus.
- Keep the bus clean.
- Driver must wear seat belt at all times.
- Do not allow students off the bus unless at an approved stop, or without a written note from the campus office.
- Do not move the bus until all students are seated and facing forward.
- All other duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Consistently monitor district email to stay informed and respond promptly to important communications.
- Submit requested data and information in a timely manner.
- Attend all scheduled meetings organized by supervisors and district administrators.
- Complete necessary paperwork as directed.
- Demonstrate proficiency with workplace technology and adapt as needed.
- Prioritize safety by ensuring all doors and windows are securely locked.
- Respect the established chain of command in all interactions.
- Stay informed about and understand the district's crisis management plan.
- Exemplify professional excellence in the school, community, and on social media.
- Focus on their designated responsibilities and collaborate effectively while respecting the boundaries of their role.
- Serve as a strong advocate for the school district, promoting its values and achievements both internally and in the broader community.
- Maintain a positive attitude and actively contribute to a supportive and constructive work environment, avoiding negativity.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance to maximize student instruction and enhance learning outcomes.
Applicants must possess at minimum a current Class B CDL with school bus endorsement, air brake endorsement, and passenger endorsement, or be willing to obtain one prior to start date. Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check as well as a DHS Child Maltreatment Registry check. All applicants must also pass a bus driver physical and pre-employment drug screening.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. In case of an emergency the employee must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and push or pull up to 100 lbs.
