We are looking for a full-time Transportation Coordinator to join our team in North Little Rock, AR. This is a hands‑on position that will serve as a backup to several in the transportation department. Candidates must have strong analytical, admin and computer skills with previous transportation experience.

Alter Trading Corporation is a 125-year-old, privately held company with 70+ scrap metal processing facilities operates scrap metal processing facilities in 11 states and trades recycled materials nationally and internationally.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Work with local operations, marketing and purchasing teams to ensure both internal and external customers’ transportation needs are met.

  • Schedule all Non‑Ferrous loads with industrial and dealers.
  • Schedule all outbound consumer shipments of NF, export and domestic.
  • Review current sales in conjunction with other team members to determine when loads of Non‑Ferrous are ready for shipment.
  • Coordinate with the Corporate office to scheduled loads.
  • Compile and track outbound trucking schedules with the operations team to ensure seamless a seamless loading experience for our team and 3rd party trucking.
  • Schedule and monitor barge shipments with local freight companies and corporate.
  • Serve as a back‑up to the Transportation Team by learning various roles such as Truck Scales, Dispatch and outbound logistics.
  • Process railcars both inbound and outbound including ordering empty railcars.
  • Visually verify inbound/outbound vehicles and material and enter it into the computer.
  • Process payments of customers, verifying information is correct and material ticket and price is correct.
  • Answer incoming calls, handling questions.
  • Coordinate and work closely with the Department of Transportation, Operations and Marketing team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
ABOUT YOU
  • Minimum of Associate’s degree in related field and 3-5 years of related transportation experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics techniques & methods.
  • Be well organized and able to set priorities, manage time and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Transportation related software.

Job applicants with previous experience in dispatch, transportation, admin, data analysis, transportation coordination, typically do well in this position.
