Position Summary
As a CDL Class A Heavy Haul Driver, you will operate a lowboy truck to transport heavy equipment between company facilities, yards, and various job sites. This critical role ensures our equipment is delivered safely and efficiently, supporting the seamless operation of our field teams.
Primary Responsibilities- Conduct thorough pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections to confirm the vehicle's safe operating condition and report any maintenance or repair needs.
- Safely drive truck and trailer to move equipment between locations, strictly adhering to all transportation laws, safety regulations, and dispatch instructions.
- Operate equipment as needed to load and unload the trailer at each destination.
- Secure loads to the trailer using chains and binders, ensuring all cargo is properly restrained for transit.
- Monitor vehicle gauges throughout operation, investigate any irregularities, and document issues or required repairs for maintenance staff.
- Identify and report abnormal operations, equipment failures, defective materials, or hazardous conditions to shop personnel.
- Perform minor field repairs and regular operator maintenance.
- Transport materials and equipment as necessary for job completion, or as directed by supervisors.
- Keep the vehicle clean and well‑organized inside and out, following all prescribed safety rules and company policies.
- Maintain accurate logs, time cards, mileage sheets, repair records, and required documentation in compliance with company standards.
- Occasionally perform out‑of‑town deliveries or equipment pick‑ups as needed.
To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate the ability to effectively and safely execute all key responsibilities listed above.
Knowledge & Skills- Proficiency with machines, tools, & equipment relevant to the role, including lowboy trucks, trailers, chains, binders, and heavy equipment.
Work Environment Requirements
- Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility.
- Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 25‑50 lbs. as needed.
- Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments.
- Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.
