Trainee Railway Traffic Controller

The railway traffic control is an indispensable part of rail traffic. Here you ensure that our passengers reach their destination safely and on time. Starting September 1, 2027, we are looking for you for a three-year training as a railway worker in railway traffic control (w/m/d) for DB InfraGO AG at the locations of Albstadt, Balingen, Bisingen, Dußlingen, Metzingen, Mössingen, Rottenburg am Neckar, or Tübingen.

During your training, you will get to know various signal box techniques and systems. For this, the places of deployment change approximately every six months. You should therefore be prepared to commute regularly between the mentioned locations. Plan for a daily commute time of up to 60 minutes per direction. The vocational school (Friedrich-Ebert-School) is located in Esslingen-Zell near Stuttgart and is a few minutes' walk from the S-Bahn stop Esslingen-Zell.

The training centers are located in Karlsruhe and Stuttgart, but you will also attend seminars in various parts of Germany. With the training, you will work as a coordinator of our trains. You will not be sitting in the train, but in a control center (called "signal box"). There are countless of these across Germany. Through screens or panels, you can observe the trains in your area and through buttons, keys, and levers you can also influence the trains' journey.

By the push of a button, you can set signals (train lights) to green or red and also change tracks so that the trains can switch tracks. There are many more tasks that make you the most important team member for the train drivers. You are constantly in contact and exchange information, for example, about changes during the journey. With your small team, you work in the region of Tübingen on a signal box close to the action.

Here you see the trains passing by you. The control of the trains is usually done via levers, push buttons, or rotary switches.

• Your colleagues will show you step by step how to operate the technology in a signal box correctly
• You will learn when to press the right buttons and keys to switch, for example, signals (train lights) or switches (transitions for a track change)
• You will often be in contact with the other employees in the railway traffic control and in the control centers as well as the train drivers
• You are an important part of our team and enable our passengers to have a safe and punctual journey with our trains

• You have successfully completed school and your school diploma is recognized in Germany
• Your German language skills correspond to at least the B2 level
