As a Lead Orthodontic Assistant, you will support the Orthodontist and assist in chair‑side procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare patients for orthodontic treatments (cleaning teeth, taking X‑rays, making impressions).
- Examine patients’ mouths and document irregularities.
- Assist the orthodontist during procedures (adjusting braces, placing appliances).
- Manage patient records and update charts.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and orthodontic care.
- Sterilize instruments before and after use.
- Follow safety and infection‑control protocols.
- Perform Invisalign procedures (attachments, adjustments, scans).
- Complete full‑arch bonding, fixed retainers, debonding, rebonding brackets.
- Ensure all appliances are received for the clinic day.
- Complete OSHA administrative tasks (weekly, monthly, quarterly).
- Use various digital scanners and make clear retainers.
- Help train new orthodontic assistants.
- Participate in marketing events.
- Deliver expanders, space maintainers, and Forsus.
- Assist in evaluating potential new assistants or those in training.
- Address patients and parents regarding poor oral health, non‑compliance, or broken brackets.
- When traveling to another clinic, perform all duties and administrative tasks.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- At least 1 year of orthodontic assisting experience.
- Availability on Saturdays.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certificate of completion for Orthodontic Assistant Courses (preferred).
- Quick and efficient learner.
- Ability to multitask.
- Professional, organized, and detail‑oriented.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Spanish speaking preferred.
- Travel availability to Algonquin and Headquarters.
- Monday–Wednesday: 8:45 am – 5:00 pm
- Thursday–Friday: 6:45 am – 3:00 pm
- Two Saturdays per month.
- Two 9:45 am – 6:00 pm shifts per month.
- Home office location: 1010 S. Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60005.
