Job Description

Hourly Pay Range: $24.86 - $37.29 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position: OB Technician – Labor and Delivery

Location:

Northwest Community Hospital – Arlington Heights, IL

Schedule:

Hourly, 12 shifts
Part time: 24 hours/week

Hours:

7p.m. – 7:30 a.m., rotating weekends/holidays

What you will do
  • Provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for women of childbearing age and their newborn.
  • Performs surgical scrub role which includes performing any combination of tasks before, during and after surgery to assist the surgical team.
  • Performs the duties of scrub technician providing the surgeon with correct instruments and equipment maintaining the integrity of the sterile field.
  • Counts sponges and instruments during cases with circulating nurse and applies sterile dressing at completion of procedure.
  • Collects specimens and delivers as necessary.
  • Cleans operating room, instruments, equipment according to established procedures and restocks room for the next procedure on a timely basis.
  • Disposes of hazardous medical wastes according to OSHA standards.
  • Maintains skill level to scrub for C-Sections and other department approved surgical procedures.
  • Selects and prepares supplies, equipment, and instruments for surgical procedures.
  • Assists patients with personal care needs such as bathing, use of bedpan, positioning, and answering call light.
  • Performs procedures such as thermal applications, perineal care, emptying of foley bags, and bed making.
  • Obtains, point of care testing, scaled weights, and reports obvious abnormalities to the appropriate RN.
  • Transports medications that are not controlled substances.
What you will need
  • Certified Nursing Assistant - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) required
  • BLS – Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) - American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Previous patient care experience or completion of one nursing clinical rotation preferred.
