Assistant Inbound Warehouse Manager

Job SummaryThe Inbound Manager is responsible for managing all processes related to products being received into the warehouse. The Inbound Manager ensures proper use of manpower, motivates associates, maintains compliance with all safety policies, checks product quality and quantity upon arrival, and ensures inbound products are accurately recorded in inventory systems.
Responsibilities- Oversee daily receiving and selection processes on the dock and in the coolers; additional departments may include yard, facilities, forklift, and quality assurance.
- Communicate with the receiving team and procurement team daily to explore opportunities within the inbound processes.
- Continuously review standard operating procedures to create efficiencies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues as needed.
- Hire, motivate, train, develop, terminate, coach, and evaluate selectors, high lift operators, receivers, and quality inspectors on performance at the dock.
- Review the team’s congestion management process (CMP) regularly to ensure goals are met; additional departments may vary by operating company.
- Develop and promote warehouse goals and objectives while working with operations management in planning and supervising activities.
- Plan department needs, including scheduling, staffing, and budget decisions.
- Assist in planning and developing the warehouse operating budget.
- Evaluate warehouse operations in terms of fiscal management to keep activities within budgetary constraints.
- Analyze, identify, and propose solutions to problems regarding warehouse operations to increase effectiveness.
- Work with the inventory manager to review and control product shrink, monitor product outflow, assign coolers to specific employees, and update product code slots.
- High school diploma; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Three to five years of experience in the produce industry.
- Three years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Forklift and pallet experience, including certification.
- Ability to operate well under constant change.
- Ability to motivate and train associates.
- Ability to delegate and assign work tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Good working knowledge of inventory control practices and procedures, product lines and dimensions; products sold by SYSCO.
- Good working knowledge of SYSCO safety and security policies, warehouse equipment, management principles, budgeting, and employee motivation.
- Necessary interdepartmental communication related to warehouse and safety activities.
- Describe the most important decisions made by this position.
- Most important decisions made independently: counsel employees with corrective actions, assign daily tasks, enforce compliance on all safety policies, reject inferior-quality inbound product, personnel schedule changes.
