We are looking for a dynamic professional to join our team of information experts. This role serves as the lead for our Genealogy and Local History programs and services , including supervising a large and very talented team of volunteers and as the coordinator for the Kathrine Shackley Room for Local History and Genealogy. This role also collaborates with Collection Services team to develop the genealogy and local history collection.
Responsibilities include- Proactively engage with customers to meet their information needs on a variety of topics by providing in depth reference assistance.
- Provide reference and customer service to diverse audiences at various services points including in-person, via phone, chat, and e-mail.
- Plan and deliver genealogy and local history programming and outreach services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with organizations and individuals in the community as it relates to subject expertise.
- Serve as a reference lead and provide staff training.
- Serve as in-charge staff member to resolve departmental issues.
- One to three years of experience in a library or similar setting.
- Experience using resources that enable genealogy research.
- Excellent research skills, with experience helping customers readily find desired resources and materials.
- Quick learner with excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong customer service skills.
- Demonstrated program development and instruction skills.
- Experience with presentations and public speaking is required

Master of Library Science Degree required.

Arlington Heights Memorial Library, Cook County
HoursFull-time position 37.5 hours/week. Primarily Monday-Friday, with 1-2 evening shifts weekly and weekend shift rotations. Must be flexible for scheduling to present programs, support events and serve at public service points.
$53,100 to $66,000 annually depending on qualifications
