Position: QC Chemist I

Job Description Summary

You will be responsible for in-process and release testing of injectable pharmaceutical finished products produced on site. The chemist participates in the development of new procedures and is involved in validation studies as they pertain to analytical testing. Work is technical and specialized, requiring accuracy and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities
  • Perform analytical testing on in-process and final products.
  • Testing using HPLC, FTIR, ICP‑OES, UV/VIS, liquid scintillation, and gamma spectrometer.
  • Participate in investigations of out‑of‑specification results.
  • Track and trend analytical data.
  • Support validation projects requiring analytical support.
  • Contribute to process improvement through Lean and 5S.
  • Assist in stocking and supplying the QC lab.
  • Perform visual inspection of finished product.
Quality Specific Goals
  • Understand acceptance activity requirements for incoming, in‑process, and final inspection.
  • Basic knowledge of stop orders, concessions, CAPA, calibration, preventive maintenance, material identification, segregation, and documentation control.
  • Comply with GEHC Quality Manual, QMS, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Complete all planned quality and compliance training within defined deadlines.
  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take corrective action.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science field.
  • Proficient with software applications applicable to the job.
  • Availability for nights and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to distinguish color.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; no visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Waters Empower experience or similar software.
  • Experience with HPLC, ICP, UV/Vis, FT‑IR.
  • Experience working with radioactive material including gamma spectrometers, ion chambers, and liquid scintillation analyzers.
  • Visual inspection experience in a FDA‑regulated QC environment.
  • Background in USP experience in a FDA‑regulated QC environment.
