Salary Range for 18 and over: $15.00 - $21.16

Minimum Starting Wage for 16: $13.00

Job Summary

The Fitness Room Monitor fosters a welcoming environment for members and guests. Main duties are greeting and being present to assist with basic equipment operation. Fitness Room Monitors also ensure fitness areas are organized and clean for our patrons. They work closely with personal trainers, fitness instructors, and customer service representatives to provide exceptional customer service.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service through interacting with patrons, assisting with basic setup and execution of equipment, and answering questions.
  • Ensure the fitness area remains clean and organized; organize dumbbells, weight plates, and bars. Disinfect and clean equipment.
  • Perform opening/closing procedures of the fitness floor and cardio areas.
  • Responsible to learn, understand and be able to communicate information concerning the Fitness Center. This includes completing daily checklist on the functionality of all Fitness Equipment.
  • Notify supervisor of any unusual situation such as missing or broken equipment, accidents, facility, damage, unregistered participants, etc.
  • Thoroughly complete accident/incident reports immediately and return them to the Fitness Operations Manager.
  • Assist with set-ups in studio space and the gymnasium during high traffic times. This can include monitoring areas if the facility in need of supervision.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  • Applicants must be 16 years of age or older in compliance with Illinois Child Labor Laws and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certified within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
Work Environment

The physical demands of this position are minimal. Most of your work will take place in a fitness center. Perform hand and arm movements as when working on a computer keyboard or calculator. Reading handwritten information and writing legibly. Job may include lifting, twisting, bending, or squatting.
