This position offers an exciting opportunity to teach swimming skills to participants ages six months to 12 years old while promoting water safety in a fun, supportive environment. Instructors typically work flexible morning evening, and weekend hours based on lesson schedules, averaging approximately 10–25 hours per week, with the season beginning in late spring or early summer. Required paid trainings include pre-season instructional clinics, safety trainings, and staff meetings throughout the season.
Salary Range: $20/Hr.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES- Teach lessons using the Arlington Heights Park District curriculum provided
- Enforce pool rules
- Assist the lessons team with set up and take down of swim lessons
- Performs basic maintenance in pool area and locker rooms to ensure a safe and clean environment
- Report any irregular discipline, safety, or maintenance issues to the Pool Manager or Lesson Coordinator
- Participates in instructional clinics and trainings
- Thorough knowledge of swimming and instructional techniques
- Capacity to lead swim classes, identify students’ need for technique improvement, and provide corrections
- Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees, children, and the general public
