Position:
Reading Specialist – Elementary (Grades K‑5)
The Reading Specialist will provide reading intervention services to students in grades K‑5 in a push‑in and/or pull‑out setting, working 1:1 or in small groups. The specialist may also support classroom teachers and special educators.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Working with students in need of reading support in grades K‑5.
- Providing push‑in or pull‑out reading interventions.
- Collaborating with classroom teachers and special educators.
- Contributing to student progress and curriculum alignment.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a K‑12 Reading License.
- Familiarity with reading programs such as Fundations, Orton Gillingham, Read Naturally, Wilson, and other programs.
- Experience supporting elementary students requiring reading intervention.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa requirement.
Terms of employment: 183 days. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association. Salary placement is based on education and experience. Position is full‑time with a salary range of $60,100 to $76,413 per year.
Reporting to:
Building Principal and ELA Director.
Arlington has a well‑established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year. The first official work day will be August 31, 2026, with orientation and training during the last two weeks of August.
