Job Summary
Visual Arts Teacher (0.5 FTE) – Part‑time position at Peirce Elementary School, Arlington, Massachusetts. Starting date:
Aug 31 2026. Salary: $30,050 – $38,206 per year.
- Teach K‑5 visual arts classes.
- Use instructional methods that teach discrete skills while promoting Studio Habits of Mind such as Envisioning, Expression, Risk Taking, and Collaboration.
- Demonstrate artistic skill in a wide variety of media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramics.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Provide instructional practices and classroom support that meet the needs of students with IEPs and 504 plans in collaboration with special‑education staff and related service providers.
- Show flexibility and compassion while maintaining high expectations for student achievement.
- Maintain strong classroom‑management skills.
- Collaborate with school faculty to develop interdisciplinary curricula.
- Stay abreast of trends in the contemporary visual‑arts world and connect students to the local arts community.
- Organize and participate in exhibitions of student work on and off campus.
- Contribute to departmental and school‑wide curriculum projects and other initiatives.
- Fulfill professional obligations regarding collaboration with peers, punctuality, attendance, organization, and routine duties.
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred).
- Massachusetts licensure for Elementary Art Education.
- Previous successful experience teaching students in a multicultural setting.
- Citizenship, U.S. residency, or work visa required.
Position type:
Part‑time (0.5 FTE). Arlington Education Association bargaining‑unit position. Reports to the K‑12 Visual Arts Director (primary) and the building principal. Salary and evaluation are per the Arlington Education Association Contract.
