Job GoalPlan instruction and/or curriculum adaptations for students with special needs to enable them to meet high standards and succeed in typical settings.
Responsibilities- Provide direct instruction and implement specially designed instruction for eligible students.
- Plan and modify instruction as appropriate.
- Consult with general‑education classroom teachers and specialists.
- Monitor student progress in general‑education classrooms.
- Develop IEPs, determine goals and objectives in collaboration with the team.
- Prepare progress reports.
- Administer re‑evaluation testing and support tri‑annual progress monitoring.
- Maintain contact with families and providers.
- Attend building learning team meetings as requested.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the building principal or special education coordinator.
- Master's Degree in Special Education preferred.
- Two or more years successful teaching experience in Special Education.
- Massachusetts Certification in Special Education (Moderate/Severe).
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
The salary schedule is aligned with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association. Salary placement is based on education and experience.
Arlington provides a well‑established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year. New staff are required to attend orientation and training during the last two weeks of August.
