Special Education Teacher​/Learning Specialist - Long Term Substitute

SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER/LEARNING SPECIALIST

Arlington Public Schools welcomes staff who are aware of the role that bias and prejudice play in society, are creative, reflective, eager to collaborate, engage families, and contribute diverse talents. We are looking for a long‑term substitute Special Education Teacher for August‑November 2026 at Ottoson Middle School.

Responsible for planning instruction and/or curriculum adaptations for students with special needs, enabling them to meet high standards in typical settings.

• Master’s Degree in Special Education (preferred)
• Two or more years successful teaching experience in Special Education
• Massachusetts Certification in Special Education (Moderate/Severe) – preferred

• Provide direct instruction to students enrolled in special education.
• Plan and modify regular curriculum.
• Consult with regular education teachers.
• Monitor student progress in regular classes.
• Develop IEPs, determine goals and objectives.
• Prepare progress reports.
• Organize and chair annual IEP team meetings.
• Administer testing for evaluations and end‑of‑year assessments.
• Maintain contact with families.
• Attend building Learning Team meetings.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the building Principal/Special Education Coordinator.

Long‑term substitute – August 31, 2026 to November 30, 2026.
