Job Description

Position

POSITION: After School Program Reviewer

JOB GOALS: The individual in this ten-month position will conduct a comprehensive review of after school programming at all sites to evaluate enrollment, programming, and identify challenges, and provide recommendations for improvements to and consolidation of Arlington After School programs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a field related to education, public service, research, and/or community development required
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, data analysis, and writing skills required
  • Experience with and demonstrated skill conducting qualitative and quantitative research studies strongly preferred
  • Experience with non‑profit and/or public organization financial, staffing, and business models strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Arlington community services and/or after school program models strongly preferred
Performance Responsibilities

The essential functions and duties listed below are intended as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of after school programming at all sites, to include:
    • Interviews with families, students, and staff at each site, including families unable to secure spots in school‑based programs.
    • Observations of programming at each site.
    • Analysis of staffing models, schedules, tuition, salaries, and other expenses at each site.
    • Visits to other after school programs in the region.
  • Develop a report with recommendations for improvements to enrollment, programming, program funding, and creative options to address identified challenges. The final report will be due on April 1st, 2027.
  • Provide weekly progress reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations regarding review progress.
  • Submit monthly invoices for hours worked, to include activities conducted at each after school site, to the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations.
  • Submit a final report to the Assistant Superintendent of Operations by Apr 1, 2027, and work with the Assistant Superintendent to present findings to the School Committee in April or May of 2027.

Terms of Employment: Part‑time, August 2026 – April 2027, maximum 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule that mostly requires engagement with the community in the late afternoon and evening.

Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations

Salary & Benefits: $75 to $90 / hour, commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for benefits.
