Grade 1 Teacher (One Year Position)

Arlington Public Schools, Hardy Elementary School – Arlington, Massachusetts

We are seeking a dedicated Grade 1 teacher for the  school year at Hardy Elementary. The role is a full‑time, one‑year appointment beginning August 31, 2026. Candidates should be licensed for the position and able to work collaboratively with grade‑level teams, general and special educators, and families. Preference will be given to candidates with an English as a Second Language license.

• Plan, implement, and assess instructional units aligned with district curriculum and standards.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, including English language learners.
• Collaborate with grade‑level teams and specialists to support student learning.
• Attend orientation, training, and the new teacher induction program throughout the school year.
• Engage in two‑way partnerships with families and contribute to a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

• Current state license for teaching Grade 1.
• Strong collaboration skills and commitment to continuous professional growth.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.
• Experience with English as a Second Language instruction is a strong plus.

Salary ranges from $60,100 to $76,413 per year, based on education and experience, and is consistent with the collective bargaining agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association. Salary schedule available on the school district website. New teachers participate in a comprehensive induction program with mentoring.
