Emergency Medical Technician at Armstrong Ambulance
• Arlington, MA

Full-time EMT openings

EMT Hourly Rate: $22 - $29/hr, based on experience.

We have openings at bases in Arlington, Medford, Woburn, Waltham, Brighton, Saugus and Stoneham. IFT, 911, and detail shifts available.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for EMTs:
  • Render basic life support procedures to patients in a variety of settings consistent with state and local operating protocols.
  • Administer initial treatment at the emergency scene and take and record patient’s vital signs.
  • Provide medical examination and screening of patients consistent with company and state protocols.
  • Assist in extricating trapped victims and transport sick and injured persons to treatment centers.
  • Properly load, secure, and transport patients in accordance with company and state policy and procedures.
  • Observe, record, and report to physicians the patient’s condition, reactions to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Direct and coordinate patient care between inter‑agency (i.e. Fire and Police) personnel and other company employees.
  • Drive the ambulance to and from emergency and non‑emergency scenes in a manner appropriate to dispatch direction and the patient’s condition, always considering due regard for the safety of self and others.
  • Operate the vehicle in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, and company policies. Navigate by road maps, directions, etc.
  • Communicate with physicians and other medical personnel via radio or telephone.
  • Communicate with the patient, patient’s family, others at the scene and at the hospital in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
  • Complete and assist in the completion of necessary patient and company paperwork in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Complete vehicle and equipment checklists, maintain ambulances and other company vehicles and equipment in a clean and efficient working order, and ensure the ambulance is appropriately stocked. This includes washing the vehicles at the end of each shift.
  • Use safety and PPE equipment as required by law and company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
Certificates and Licenses
  • Certification as an EMT in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Certification in Basic Life Support CPR
  • Valid motor vehicle operator license with a satisfactory driving history
  • Successfully completes required training programs in Hazmat, MCI Management (NIMS 100 & 700) prior to completion of classroom orientation.
  • Use safety and PPE equipment as required by law and company policies
