  • Provide high-quality, direct patient care in a team-based model
  • Develop empathetic relationships with patients, families, and colleagues
  • Assist patients throughout visits, facilitate timely flow, update medication and allergy lists, and review screening questions
  • Communicate patient information and hand off to providers
  • Obtain vital signs, height, and weight; perform EKGs, point-of-care testing, and phlebotomy; administer immunizations when qualified; assist with routine procedures
  • Conduct population health outreach and basic health coaching
  • Monitor, order, and maintain medical equipment and supplies
  • Use the EHR to queue prescription renewals, enter medications and clinician-directed orders, and document visit tasks for billing
  • Schedule diagnostic and lab tests; verify insurance, prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications
  • Identify OSHA compliance issues, promote patient safety, report adverse events and near misses, and protect PHI
  • Report to the Practice Manager
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 6 months clinical classroom
  • Preferred: 0–1 years related work experience or customer service related experience in any field
  • Preferred:
    Graduate from BILH Primary Care Clinical Assistant Training program, EMT Basic License, Phlebotomy Certificate, or other healthcare training
  • Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and respect the beliefs of all patients and team members
  • Must perform medical assisting duties under proper supervision
  • Medical Assistant must have graduated from an accredited MA program to administer immunizations
  • Must adhere to OSHA compliance, patient safety, and PHI requirements
  • Must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment
