Position Description

Substitute Teacher – Certified (26-27 school year)

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree
• Requires a valid Tennessee teaching license
• Governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated
• Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position
• Any other qualifications that the Superintendent deems appropriate and acceptable

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Accurately follows the daily schedule established by the classroom teacher.
• Implements a planned program of study designated by the classroom teacher.
• Provides accurate information and instruction in regard to the content as designated by the classroom teacher.
• Communicates clear outcomes for all lessons, class work, and projects as assigned by the classroom teacher.
• Maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Takes student attendance in a designated format.
• Familiarizes self with and implements established rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Assigns and collects student work as instructed by the classroom teacher.
• Communicates with the classroom teacher essential information regarding the students and the day of absence.
• Familiarizes self with the school building, policies, procedures, and personnel; establishes and maintains cooperative interactions with other school personnel.
• Follows all safety protocols including communicable disease guidelines, keeps classroom doors locked during class, participates in all safety drills, and wears the ACS always issued .
• Participates and completes all required trainings and video courses as assigned.
• Serves as a model for the district's mission, vision, and goals.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintains confidentiality and compliance with student Individualized Education Programs, Individualized Learning Plans, ILP for Characteristics of Dyslexia, and 504 plans.
• Maintains a standard of performance and conduct as required by state, law, local board of education, and community expectations.
• Maintains professionalism in all interactions with students, school personnel, parents, and community members.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed by the Principal and/or Superintendent.

Supervises students as designated on the class roster. Also supervises students in common areas when class is not in session.

• Regularly required to talk or hear.
• Required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Regularly move about inside the classroom or school.
• Ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds.
