Position Overview
Accounting Specialist, Department:
Admin & Econ Dev Business Services,
Location:
Arlington, Full‑time, Monday–Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm. Salary commensurate with qualifications (annual $40,000–$50,000).
The Accounting Specialist performs advanced accounting work related to travel/expense reimbursements, purchase order and non‑purchase order invoices, procurement card, inter‑departmental billing, and various employee forms. Responsibilities include applying accounting practices and controls to financial transactions for large Auxiliary Departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Review and process vendor invoices for payment (PO and non‑PO vouchers). Verify accuracy, resolve issues, create payment vouchers, and maintain vendor files.
- Review and process procurement card logs for payment. Verify completeness and accuracy, reconcile documentation, and ensure proper signatures.
- Review and process charges on journal vouchers (IDT) in accounting system. Manage charges relating to dining services usage and other departmental activity.
- Process eForms for new hires, terminations, rate increases, and position changes.
- Process employee time entries, including correct hours, overtime, and vacation vouchers.
- Review travel authorizations/expense reports for accuracy and compliance with university travel policies.
- Prepare and process requisitions for Mav eShop and standard purchase orders.
- Assist with reconciliations and other accounting support tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Four (4) years of governmental or commercial accounting experience at a level comparable to Accounting Specialist, or equivalent mix of education and experience.
