Job Summary
The Accounting Specialist performs advanced accounting work related to travel and expense reimbursements, purchase order and non-purchase order invoices, procurement card, inter‑departmental billing, and various employee forms including new hires, terminations, rate increases, and timekeeping for several large Auxiliary Departments. The role applies accounting practices and controls to a variety of financial transactions. Salary ranges from $40,000 to $50,000, with the final offer based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Review and process vendor invoices for payment for both PO and non‑PO vouchers, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of issues, creating payment vouchers in the accounting system, and maintaining vendor files.
- Reconcile vendor statements.
- Review and process procurement card logs for payment, verifying completeness, documentation, reconciliation, and required signatures.
- Review and process charges on journal vouchers (IDT) in the accounting system for services such as dining and campus activity.
- Review and process eForms related to new hires, terminations, rate increases, and position changes.
- Review and process employee time entry, including correct hours, overtime, and vacation vouchers.
- Review and process travel authorizations and expense reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university travel policies.
- Prepare and process requisitions for Mav eShop and standard purchase orders.
- Assist with various reconciliations and other accounting support tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Four (4) years of experience in governmental or commercial accounting at a level comparable to that of an Accounting Specialist, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting.
- Experience using People Soft.
Salary: $40,000 to $50,000. Pay basis: bi‑weekly.
Work schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm.
