Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company is seeking an Inventory & Supply Chain Accountant to own inventory valuation, standard costing, cost of goods sold, and inventory reconciliations across raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods. This role will partner closely with supply chain, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate cost capture, reliable financial reporting, and compliant allocation of inventory costs supporting federal contracts.
Responsibilities:- Maintain perpetual inventory records and valuation for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
- Develop, maintain, and update standard costs for inventory items and manufacturing operations.
- Perform purchase price, material usage, labor, and overhead variance analysis; investigate drivers and recommend corrective actions.
- Reconcile inventory subledgers to the general ledger and research, resolve, and document discrepancies.
- Calculate, analyze, and support monthly reporting of cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Support cycle counts and periodic physical inventories, including reconciliation of count results and adjustment documentation.
- Establish and maintain excess and obsolete inventory reserves and lower-of-cost-or-net-realizable-value adjustments.
- Capitalize and allocate landed costs, including freight, duties, and other applicable acquisition costs.
- Partner with supply chain, procurement, and manufacturing teams to improve inventory cost capture and data accuracy.
- Support government cost accounting for inventory and materials allocated to federal contracts.
- Help ensure financial inventory records align with pharmaceutical traceability and regulatory requirements, including DSCSA.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- At least 3 years of inventory accounting or cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with standard costing, inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and variance analysis.
- Experience reconciling inventory subledgers to the general ledger.
- Proficiency using ERP inventory and costing modules.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, and finance stakeholders.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing is preferred.
- CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with government cost principles as applied to materials and inventory is preferred.
