The Internal Audit Specialist will be responsible for evaluating and ensuring the financial and operational integrity of engineering and construction projects. This role involves reviewing project budgets, contracts, invoices, and expenditures to verify compliance with contractual terms, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThis position does not regularly provide work leadership or full personnel management to any employees.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITYNo significant financial responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATIONBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Construction Management, or Engineering.
EXPERIENCETwo years of experience performing reviews of construction related activities and functions such as: contracting, procurement, project management, billings and payments, and project closeout.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSValid Texas driver's license.
KNOWLEDGEProficient with computerized applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to learn and adapt quickly, solve complex business problems and identify innovative solutions, and exercise discretion in sensitive situations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with good conflict management and resolution skills.
GUIDANCE RECEIVEDFollows periodic direct instructions and guidelines, uses policies and procedures that require some interpretation. Problems that cannot be addressed through an existing guideline, policy or procedure are referred to supervisor or more senior position. Incumbent must exercise judgment about whether to elevate issues.
WORKING CONDITIONSOffice environment with occasional fieldwork and travel.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USEDOffice equipment including personal computers, printers, copiers, and Authority vehicles.
PreferredBachelors or better in Accounting or related field.
