Position Purpose

The Labor Scheduling Manager is responsible for developing, analyzing, and managing labor budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, productivity reporting, and labor management processes across the division. This position partners with Operations, Finance, Information Technology, and Store Leadership to ensure labor resources are effectively planned and aligned with business objectives while supporting customer service, operational excellence, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities Labor Planning & Budget Management
  • Develop and provide labor cost budgets by store, department, week, period, and quarter.
  • Partner with senior operations leadership to establish labor cost objectives and performance expectations.
  • Monitor labor spending trends and recommend strategies to improve productivity and control labor expenses.
  • Support achievement of labor management goals while maintaining customer service and operational standards.
  • Analyze labor performance and identify opportunities for increased efficiency.
Labor Management Systems
  • Configure, maintain, and support labor management applications and scheduling tools.
  • Establish business requirements that simplify labor scheduling and forecasting processes for store users.
  • Review, analyze, and test new labor management software releases and enhancements.
  • Partner with corporate teams to identify system improvements and future development needs.
  • Ensure labor management tools accurately support business objectives and operational requirements.
Forecasting & Productivity Analysis
  • Analyze labor forecasting models and productivity metrics to improve operational performance.
  • Utilize labor standards and work measurement tools to determine labor requirements by department and position.
  • Develop reporting processes that track productivity, labor efficiency, and scheduling effectiveness.
  • Identify labor trends and make recommendations to improve workforce utilization.
  • Support the development of labor planning strategies that balance service levels and cost control.
Data Management & Reporting
  • Maintain labor-related databases and operational data repositories.
  • Manage labor, store, equipment, and facility information used to support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Coordinate data collection, distribution, and refresh processes across multiple systems.
  • Analyze large volumes of operational data to support decision-making and business planning.
  • Develop and maintain reporting tools for store, district, and division leadership.
Store Operations Support
  • Partner with Store Directors, District Managers, and Operations teams to address labor-related challenges.
  • Provide consultation regarding labor standards, productivity performance, remodeling impacts, staffing requirements, and operational changes.
  • Evaluate labor discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support labor planning efforts associated with store openings, remodels, conversions, and operational initiatives.
  • Ensure consistency in labor management practices across all locations.
Training & Development
  • Assist in the development of labor management training materials and user documentation.
  • Conduct training sessions for store leadership and management trainees.
  • Provide coaching on labor management systems, scheduling practices, and productivity measurement.
  • Support implementation of new labor management processes and system enhancements.
  • Promote best practices that improve scheduling effectiveness and labor performance.
Financial Planning & Cost Control
  • Support financial planning initiatives related to labor expenses and productivity.
  • Assist with payroll planning, return-on-investment analysis, and operational cost forecasting.
  • Evaluate labor expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Partner with leadership teams to improve profitability through effective workforce planning.
  • Support special projects related to labor optimization, productivity, and expense management.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as a liaison between Operations, Finance, Information Technology, Payroll, Merchandising, Construction, and other business partners.
  • Collaborate with corporate and divisional teams on labor-related initiatives.
  • Support implementation of company-wide labor management programs.
  • Participate in productivity improvement and cost-control initiatives.
  • Provide analytical support for business decisions impacting labor resources and store operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Finance, Operations Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three years of Store Director, multi-unit leadership, or equivalent operational management experience.
  • Experience with labor forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, workforce planning, and productivity management.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
