Job Overview
Position Title:
Academic Advisor I. Department: CONHI Student Success Advising.
Location:
Arlington. Full‑time, Monday‑Friday 8:00 am‑5:00 pm. Travel to various campus locations may be required; remote and virtual advising work is also possible.
Salary: $41,500 starting, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct academic advising for current and prospective graduate students via in‑person, virtual, phone, and email modalities.
- Provide guidance on degree requirements, course selection, and help students set and achieve academic and career goals.
- Teach students to track progress, locate and interpret policies, and utilize campus resources.
- Monitor caseload progress, proactively outreach to provide just‑in‑time assistance.
- Verify degree progress, remove holds, and approve forms to ensure timely student progression.
- Analyze student data, transcripts, and placement results.
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and University policies and procedures.
- Stay informed of relevant academic programs and support services (counseling, tutoring) and refer students as appropriate.
- Participate in campus events, orientation, advising meetings, professional conferences, and professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- One year of experience advising college students or adolescents.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Additional experience in an academic environment.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies governing academic advising, and familiarity with academic advising associations such as NACADA and TEXAAN.
- Working knowledge of the University Catalog.
- Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication, organization, problem‑solving, deadline‑management, initiative, outreach, and navigation of student information systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
- Ability to work professionally, collaboratively, and independently.
