Terms of Employment:
This FLSA exempt position (salaried, non-hourly) is on a work calendar of 187 days per school year. Pay is based on years of experience from the annually reviewed and board of directors adopted "Teachers, Nurses, Librarians, and Counselors" salary scale. Current year salary scales may be viewed on our school website.
Primary
Purpose:
Seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Robotics Teacher to join our middle school faculty. The ideal candidate will inspire and engage students in grades 6 through 8 in the exciting world of robotics, coding, and engineering. The teacher will design and deliver hands-on, project-based learning experiences that foster critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
Education/Certification:
* Bachelor's degree in Education, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
* Valid state teaching certification (or ability to obtain) in the appropriate subject area.
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
* Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
* Must have reliable transportation, a valid Texas driver's license, and a good driving record.
* Must meet and maintain the school's liability insurance coverage eligibility.
Experience:
Required:
* Experience teaching or working with middle school-aged students.
* Teaching experience in robotics, computer science, or STEM.
Preferred:
* Proficiency with educational robotics platforms and coding languages (e.g., Scratch, Python, C++).
* Familiarity with design thinking, Makerspace tools, or 3D printing is a plus.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, develop, and deliver robotics instruction aligned with state standards and school curriculum.
* Teach foundational and intermediate concepts in robotics, coding (e.g., block-based and/or text-based programming), engineering, and design.
* Use platforms such as LEGO MINDSTORMS, VEX Robotics, or Arduino, depending on the school's robotics program.
* Create and implement project-based learning units that engage students in real-world problem-solving.
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive classroom environment.
* Support students in preparing for and participating in robotics competitions (e.g., FIRST LEGO League, VEX IQ Challenge).
* Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary STEM initiatives.
* Maintain safety standards in the robotics lab and manage classroom resources and equipment.
* Use assessment tools to evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
* Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Instructional Strategies
* Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
* Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
* Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
* Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
* Conduct an assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
* Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
* Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
* Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
* Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Student Growth and Development
* Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
* Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
* Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
* Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
* Classroom Management and Organization
* Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
