ROLE AND PURPOSE:

The Head Director is responsible for the oversight of the Theatre program, including instruction, production, and student development. This role oversees all theatrical performances, fosters student creativity and performance skills, and ensures alignment with district curriculum standards while promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts, Education, or related
  • Valid Texas teaching
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in a Fine Arts academy or specialized performing arts
  • 3+ years teaching experience in a leadership role directing theatrical productions in a secondary
  • Successful experience in quality productions of musical theatre, UIL one-act play contest and other various performance formats.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Facilitation of individualized student experiences and growth opportunities, supporting the Fine Arts / Dual Language Academy alongside a traditional secondary theatre program and highlighting the success for all
  • Proven ability to build and foster a high-quality theatre program which ensures student achievement, builds parental and stakeholder support, and is both proactive and responsive to community needs.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with other performing arts colleagues, in support of a broader Fine Arts specialized program.
  • Familiarity with school district policies, campus procedures, and student safety guidelines related to performances and rehearsals; to include keeping informed of current legislation with impacts on educational developments by maintaining professional growth in the core knowledge area of
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

I. PROGRAM LEADERSHIP:
  • Spearhead the planning, development, and execution of the campus theatre
  • Develop long-term goals to grow student participation through retention and program
  • Ensure alignment with district policies, curriculum standards, and fine arts / dual language programming
  • Cultivate an environment of collaboration with Theatre staff to create a season of production/performance opportunities to meet the needs of the overall program and the FADLA student experience.
  • Oversee Theatre Capstone Projects, ensuring support of student
II. COLLABORATION & COMPLIANCE:
  • Partner with school/district leadership, faculty, and community stakeholders to support the
  • Establish open lines of communication and maintain professional relationships with students, parents, staff and community members regarding performance and expectations.

  • Collaborate with Theatre staff in planning and executing all aspects of Theatre productions/performance including directing and design responsibilities
III. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to theatre program staff, including assistant directors, technical theatre staff, campus support personnel and contracted vendors.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom adhering to the district discipline management plan in accordance with Board policies, administrative regulations and Individual Education Plans.

IV. EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE SKILLS:
  • Foundational understanding of modern theatrical audio/visual
  • Actively maintaining campus facility spaces utilized by the Theatre
  • Personal computer, ETC lighting board, Allen & Heath sound board, lighting fixtures, sound equipment, printer, copier, scanner, calculator.

  • Google Suite applications (Docs, G-Mail, Sheets, Slides, Drive, )
V. WORKING CONDITIONS:
