The Admissions Counselor II provides advanced professional knowledge, advice and counseling regarding student admission. Execute duties daily to assist the department in reaching university enrollment goals and contribute to student success. Responsible for the recruitment of new students, including performing activities that will generate prospects, applicants, and new student enrollment. Build professional connections with school counselors and educational partners that promote UTA and a college bound message.
Serve as a professional liaison for students and families as they navigate the admission process. Foster a positive working environment that honors the UTA Principles of Community, leads to healthy levels of productivity and contributes to UTA being increasingly known as a great place to work. The annual salary for this position ranges from $44,000 - $46,500. The final offer will be based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage a geographical territory for the purpose of recruiting new freshman, transfer, graduate, or international students for enrollment at UTA.
- Build relationships with school counselors, students, and families within that region and serve as a direct liaison between the students and campus.
- Travel to high schools, colleges, and other learning institutions to publicize and promote admission requirements and procedures of UTA. Travel will include overnight stays and necessitate planning and booking personal travel accommodations within state approved guidelines.
- Provide information to prospective students and parents on specific educational opportunities of the University, both on and off campus.
- Counsel students and parents on admission, financial aid processes and enrollment steps.
- Answer questions of a complex nature regarding the University’s admissions policies, degree offerings, and campus opportunities.
- Reply to phone calls, correspondence and e-mail from prospective students, family members and other educational partners.
- Prepare professional, thorough correspondence in response to inquiries submitted to the office or the staff member.
- Review student applications for admission and counsel applicants regarding their eligibility status.
- Develop and nurture relationships with community partners, strengthening connection and providing outstanding service to each.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of all recruitment functions, events, and activities.
- Assist with events, both on and off campus, as well as virtual events.
- Provide written updates of admission funnel progress pertaining to assigned territory and track progress to stated goals.
- Keep university enrollment goals as the focus of all recruitment activities and maintain current metrics to measure success and progress toward stated goals.
- Work well both independently and within a team environment; provide support to co‑workers as needed to assist the entire university in reaching enrollment goals.
- Assist other areas/departments on campus with recruitment efforts and perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience with standard office equipment.
- Experience and knowledge with extremely accurate admission and transfer evaluations.
- Two (2) years of experience counseling students in academic and scholastic matters, with a broad knowledge of institutional admission requirements or the equivalent experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Software.
Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Some flexibility available. Minimal evening, weekend events required. May require frequent travel for recruiting purposes.
