Position: Open Rank (Assistant/Associate/Full-Professor) – Precision Health

Position Overview

The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for a cluster of three tenured and tenure‑track faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate/Full‑Professor level in the Precision Health Department. The role focuses on building a nationally leading program in health‑system‑embedded clinical informatics, precision health research, large‑scale precision medicine, clinical AI, and genomics. Candidates will hold a primary appointment in the College of Engineering, be embedded in the Center for Innovation in Health Informatics, and maintain a secondary appointment at Cook Children’s Health Care System.

The position is full‑time, FLSA exempt, with monthly pay and access to comprehensive benefits, and funding is expected to continue.

  • Build and lead an independent, externally funded research program in EHR‑integrated digital pathways, decision support, secure data infrastructure, clinical NLP, real‑world implementation of AI, and genomics.
  • Conduct research in governed enterprise clinical environments such as Epic, develop EHR‑connected workflows, and implement scalable deployment models.
  • Publish in high‑impact journals, present at national conferences, and mentor graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and junior faculty.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in health‑system, academia, and industry to translate computational and genomic innovations into real‑world clinical practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will:

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in informatics, precision medicine, or related disciplines.
  • Lead a team of student researchers and maintain a robust research program with existing or forthcoming external funding.
  • Contribute to UTA’s teaching, research, and service missions, including professional service within the university and the broader community.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or equivalent in a discipline aligned with precision health, or a related field.
  • Strong publication record and demonstrated potential for externally funded research.
  • Commitment to quality teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary research and mentoring of graduate students or postdoctoral scholars.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Internationally recognized or rapidly emerging research program in precision medicine, clinical AI, genomics, or biomedical informatics.
  • History of obtaining extramural funding from NIH, NSF, ARPA‑H, PCORI, foundations, or industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate advanced computational, genomic, or AI insights into clinical or healthcare settings.
  • Experience leading interdisciplinary research teams and serving in professional or community service roles.
