Job Summary

This role is responsible for collaborating with library staff, faculty, and stakeholders across the College to lead and manage library services, operations, technologies, collections, and Learning Commons initiatives, including strategic planning, resource management, and community engagement activities that support student success and advance the mission and vision of the library.

Essential Performance Requirements
  • Develops goals and mission of the library and works with other members of the library to meet the goals and mission of the library and the College
  • Plans, directs, and evaluates all aspects of the operation of the campus library in support of TCC's One College Learning Commons approach to student academic support services
  • Contributes to the continued planning, development, and continuous improvement of library and Learning Commons services, technologies, and collections
  • Develops, analyzes, and coordinates departmental budget estimates and controls expenditures to administer the approved budget
  • Reviews, revises, and maintains appropriate guidelines and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the library
  • Maintains library environments and contributes to planning for new or renovated facilities
  • Communicates with College constituents, the community, and administration regarding library and Learning Commons issues
  • Builds and maintains community relations with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and the community to promote the Learning Commons and the College and present a positive image of the College's library and academic support services
  • Actively participates in College-wide conversations on student engagement and success
  • Keeps current on changing professional practices and advancements in the fields of libraries, student learning, and academic technology and participates in local, state, regional, and national library and learning organizations
General Supervision and Management
  • Provides leadership and oversight for departmental activities, including workforce planning, performance management, process improvement, budgeting, and resource allocation
  • Focuses on achieving departmental and organizational objectives through effective management of people, programs, and operations
  • Leads through supervisors and professional staff by establishing priorities, supporting accountability, and developing team performance
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
  • Works under the supervision of the assigned campus leader
Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program
  • Five (5) years' working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements
